People who report they have a 8different relationship with their thoughts and
feelings9, 8greater inner peace9 and 8a deeper connection with God9 rate much more
highly across all the impact measures we assessed.
For many people, experiencing the above seems to occur early on and increase with time.
For example, 95% of people who began to meditate with The School of Contemplative
Life in 2022 or before reported having a different relationship with their thoughts and
feelings. This drops to 82% in 2023 and 73% in 2024.
In other words, new meditators are very likely to experience early benefits but embedding
the practice into your life over the long-term appears to bring about most
transformation. Equally, having a daily practice seems to have the greatest impact but
practicing several times a week is also very beneficial. Infrequent practice or practicing for
less than 20 mins at a time appears to be far less beneficial.
