The Impact of Meditation in Community - Flipbook - Page 5
We are very grateful to Sara, a research student at the University of Derby, for her
expertise (and to the University for funding her placement with us).
The following pages contain an overview of the findings we think will be of most interest
to you - a fellow traveller on the contemplative path. Paraphrasing the philosopher
Simone Weil, the reflections shared deeply affirm that cultivating attention is both a
moral and spiritual act.
As a preliminary, small-scale study, these observations are of course indicative rather than
conclusive. We make no assertions about what will or won’t happen as a result of your
practice and look forward to building on this preliminary research over time. However,
the findings are supported by the testimony and experience of countless people who have
practised in this tradition throughout centuries before us, and other studies that exist.
If you attend the practice community - thank you. Your presence matters. If you donate
to support our work - thank you. Your generous financial support, which sustains our
free offering to people of all faiths and none, is evidently transforming lives every day.
A last word. Although we asked participants to reflect on their experiences, it is always
important to remind ourselves that we cannot judge our practice (or anyone else’s). The
wisdom and the healing processes take place at a depth beyond our sight.
